Because I don't update this silly thing enough.
First, good news on the weird westerns front. The long delayed TALES FROM THE CAULDRON is moving ahead again with a new editor. That means that "Trail of the Brujo" should see print in the near future. That is a story in which gunfighter and monster-hunter Mysterious Dave Mather takes on a centuries old sorcerer. Also, another Mysterious Dave story called "Wolfers" has been picked up by LEATHER, DENIM AND SILVER: LEGENDS OF THE MONSTER HUNTERS.
Also, MORE TALES OF ZORRO is out from Moonstone and the book looks great. It features two stories of mine, "Zorro and the Bruja" and my collaboration with Richard Dean Starr, "Just Like Magic."
If you notice a similarity in a couple of the titles (eg Brujo/Bruja) that's not accidental, but I'll leave you to figure out what metafictional connection there could be.

Yes, more frequent updates, please. :-)
I just read Wolfers in my Kindle download of Leather, Denim and Silver.
Liked it a lot. I write in first person myself, mainly.
I'm curious as to whether you intended Orrin, Tyree and X to be odin, Thor and (not sure about X?) an the original wolf would have been Fenris.
I'm guesing yes and that was part of a much larger novella that you had to edit down for the publication?
Regardless the story had pace and read well. Can I Kindle any other first person stories of yours?
Cheers: Jaq.
Hi Jaq,
I'm kind of techno-dumb so I'll have to check to see what stories are on kindle.
I'm glad you like the story. Orrin is indeed Odin. Tyree is Tyr, one of the lesser known Norse gods, who had his hand bitten off by the Fenris Wolf. X was an obscure god named Vidarr, who never spoke and was destined to kill the Fenris Wolf at Ragnarok. I chose those three because they had the west wolf connections.
:-)
