My story "Trail of the Brujo" was just rejected by "Weird Tales." That's discouraging of course, it's a story I felt rather proud of and this is two rejections.
I wonder how I'll go on.
I console myself however with the fact that I'm being turned down by such an impressive market.

I wouldn't worry, Matthew--WEIRD TALES has been little more than a pretentious "We're moving the horror field to new heights" style rag instead of simply entertaining for a long time now. I can barely follow any of their stories. Mysterious Dave deserves better than them.

I wouldn't feel too horrible. It's my understanding that Weird Tales is on shaky ground. They tend to miss their publishing deadlines. I wouldn't be surprised if the publisher scraps most of the titles, including Weird Tales.
Actually, the magazine market just sucks in general, doesn't it? Makes one wonder why a writer puts forward the effort. For me? I just like to write, and if I sell something or not, if my market is professional, or token, or amateur, then that's just the way it has to be.
thanks guys! It's a shame to hear all that about WT. Ah well.
I hear you Stewart. I write because the words seem to want to come out. It's great when someone else likes them or wants to publish them, but that's not the point.
