Things Aren't What they Seem

I just got word that this anthology has passed on my story "Closing Time at Galaxy Video". Rejections are never fun, but two recent acceptances do help take the sting away. Plus I got some good critical comments from the folks at the PIT that should help me improve that one.

I'll probably send it back out in about a week, when I've had a chance to re-work it a bit.

You'll definitely find a home for it--it's definitely one of your best short stories.

You should try sending it to one of the big magazines. I wouldn't be surprised if you were able to sell it to one of the pros.

For every acceptance I can ride the wave of at least four rejections - then I settle back into panic mode.

Thanks Leah. I'm finishing the rewrites and will be re-subbing it again this week.

Catherine, I've never tracked my ratio but 4-1 sounds about right. It's not nearly as discouraging after a few sales. (In other words, I don't hide under as big a rock, or for nearly as long.)
